One of the most exciting parts of New Years Eve is the anticipation for something new. A new year is filled with expectancy- Will this year be better? Will I finally get in shape? Will I move to that city I’ve talked about?
I, like many, love New Year’s resolutions. The idea of bettering oneself is very appealing, however, these typically fail by February. I’ve learned in my 30-odd years that it’s better to make small, obtainable resolutions.
Last year, my resolutions were more focused on preparing for childbirth, which I rocked by the way. I spent months reading and preparing myself mentally. I found it very helpful when push came to shove (pun intended) and my beautiful daughter entered the world unharmed.
This year I have two goals in mind. First, I plan to blog consistently all year. My goal is to post one article per week. I work full-time and I’m a new mom so it’s easy to forgo my weekly blog post goal with those excuses. But that’s what they are, excuses. I enjoy blogging so carving out some extra time every week will give me the creative outlet I’m seeking.
Second, is to cook at home more. Cooking at home should also have the added benefit of saving more money and losing some of my stubborn baby weight. I’ve become lazy and stupid for ordering Uber Eats regularly. That 15% surcharge is eating away at M’s college fund. Kidding, but also kind of not.
Those are the only goals I’ve set for myself. It’s a focus on intentional living– Something I plan to expand on in life and on this blog. While these resolutions are simple, I expect some major benefits for both and hope to report on those benefits this time next year.
What resolutions are you making for 2023?
