300k step challenge in March

This month my brother, his wife, my husband and I are in a step challenge to hit 300k steps by the end of March. Currently I’m behind and we are nearly at the halfway point so I’m posting about it to hold me accountable! At this rate, I need to walk and average of 10,849 steps a day to meet my goal.

I’m not a runner due to my knees and just general dislike of the practice but I’m a fan of walking. At the beginning of the pandemic, I was taking hour long walks daily with my brother’s fiance, S, until it got cold. Long walks with friends or with a good audiobook are so nice. With the weather warming up, it’s a good opportunity for me to start taking longer walks with S and my dogs. So my main plan to get extra steps is as follows:

  • 20-30 min walk on the treadmill first thing in the morning OR long outdoor walk if I don’t have a workout scheduled.
  • Meet the fitbit minimum 250 step per hour during the work day.
  • 15 min walk with one of my dogs at lunch.
  • 20 min walk in the evening with my dog.
  • Workout or clean until I hit my target.

My competitive side is kicking in so I’m fairly confident I’ll make my goal but my slacking days are over for the next two weeks! Wish me luck.
